It is sad that when you need treatment for different
diseases and disorders the process of finding the right
treatment becomes an extremely frustrating experience. The
more doctors you meet the more confusing statements you will
hear. If one physician recommends one line of treatment the
other specialist might prescribe an altogether different
treatment.
So, what can be the best possible way to come out of this
fuss and select the best recommendation? The best way is to
go in for second opinion which at times can be costly and
time consuming. It is better to get sensible advice for a
better treatment for your ailment rather that lingering on
with the doctors who give wrong advice. Whenever you are
recommended a certain course of medical treatment, it is
wise to gather as many opinions as you can. So, rather than
rushing with the treatment, it is better to do a research so
that you get the right treatment for the right ailment.
The most shocking fact is that majority of the people fail
to get the right treatment mainly due to their hesitation in
asking questions. It has been noticed that people are quite
uncertain about asking medical questions regarding their
ailments to the doctors. This is in fact prevalent from the
days when doctors were treated as demi-gods and that
tradition continues till date. People still are averse to
the idea of disclosing everything to their doctors. This is
certainly not in your favor.
It is very difficult for the aged ones to get the right
treatment as they don't ask any medical questions pertaining
to their treatment and ailments. They are always in a hunt
of someone who can accompany them to the doctor. So, in your
family if there is any elderly person, do accompany them to
the doctor and ask various questions regarding their
treatment. This will make you and your family members feel
much better regarding any treatment decision particularly in
critical treatments like chemotherapy.
As soon as any insurance company gets involved in any
treatment issues, the treatment becomes more complex. It has
been evident at times that the recommended treatment by the
doctor is not covered by insurance company or HMO. There are
many treatments which are either not covered or they are
partially covered by insurance companies. This forces you to
bear the terms of insurance company and still try to get the
best possible treatment. It seems quite hard but still you
deserve the right and the best treatment.
