How To Build A Happy, Effective Work Environment

Corporate as well as small business owners realize how
critical an effective work environment is to their success.
Too often, problems are left unresolved and rules not
implemented. This ends in a non-productive staff and a
stagnant work environment.
People brought together with one common denominator working
together will accomplish tasks as a team, and have high
expectations. Providing a comfortable work atmosphere is
essential, whether your staff consists of one person or
twenty-five. Leaders create the environment in which people
operate, which means thy must act in a way that attracts,
excites, expands, and sustains the human spirit.
Trust
Trust can only be cultivated when boundaries are
established. When people have the freedom to make
decisions, take some risks, and feel free to tell others
what is on their mind, then trust is at least possible.
Obligations and responsibilities will make sure they remain
honest and accountable.
The position of leader is an important one because they
must be both optimistic and realistic in order to foster a
hope-filled work environment. While realism admits the
facts in a situation, it is optimism that helps propel
forward towards their goals in difficult circumstances.
"Fussy" rules only add chaos. It is my personal experience
that boundaries mold a self-motivated staff member into a
productive professional. Strict, unreasonable demands are
the result of a dominant strong managed system. They leave
no room for individual judgment and "no ownership" of one's
work. This drastically reduces the motivation to complete
tasks efficiently.
Optimism
Hope
When a company trusts its employees, those workers are far
more likely to make sacrifices to help the company through
difficult times. A kind word here and there goes a long
way in both the professional and person spheres of
influence.
A leader has a very important job! Being realistic and
optimistic at the same time is the key to creating a hopeful
work environment. Realism acknowledges the facts of a
situation; optimism dictates that we continue to work toward
our goals, despite tough circumstances.
Enjoyment
You can be intense yet calm at the same time when you have
confidence. Your team will be encouraged to engage a
problem when there are clear goals and open lines of
communication.
It is possible to be intense and relaxed at the same time.
All that you need is a little confidence. A combination of
clear goals and communication will set an inner peace on
fire and encourage your team to engage.
Opportunity
Without growth, your staff falls short of performing. We all
need a drive (fuel for the soul) to make us press onward to
a high goal. Employees work 9 to 5 punching a clock, and
completing repetitive tasks. This gets old, causing
employees to move on to better opportunities. Owning a
business requires you to be in touch with your staff. Know
what is important to your employees. Ask yourself where
they see themselves 3, 5, or 10 years from now. Is it
realistic? Offer the opportunity for growth within your
businesses. Promoting from within always
improves staff motivation.
It is important for companies to take a careful look at the
work atmosphere on a regular basis. This helps reduce the
possibility of lawsuits and lost assets. Understand that
your employees should be valued and then make
certain the work atmosphere reflects that.
Opportunity
Challenges help keep us motivated. A good leader gives
their associates the chance to grow into new roles and
challenges. You need to reward their abilities and effort
with encouragement, more money, and the opportunity for
advancement.
Those who are open to learning new things and working with
diverse groups of people will experience different roles,
and expand their worldview. These fortunate few produce a
richer organization and a healthier work environment.
