There is a wide range of contact lenses available in the
market. These lenses are worn for different reasons, like
for correcting the vision, for changing the eye color, etc.
If you are planning to buy contact lenses for yourself,
even if it is just for changing your eye color, you should
first consult your eye doctor. You should understand that
just like you buy shoes according to your size, your
contact lenses should also be made to fit your eyes. Your
doctor will examine your eyes, and advise you whether you
can use contact lenses or not. The chances of the doctor
giving a negative reply are very rare, as almost everyone
can wear contacts. So, once the doctor has assented, you
will be faced by many options, like whether you would go
for soft contacts or rigid ones. Both have their own
positives and negatives, like soft contacts, though not
very durable, are easy to adjust and comfortable to wear,
as they are made up of mostly water, whereas rigid lenses
take more time to adjust to, but have a longer life and
provide a sharper vision. The type of contacts you choose,
soft or rigid, determines the number of times you will need
to replace them.
Rigid contacts need not be replaced before two years. Soft
lenses are sometimes disposable and can be thrown away
after use. Naturally, there is no hassle of cleaning
involved with these disposable contact lenses. Another
variety of soft contacts can last for a as much as a week
to many months before they need replacement.
However, the need for replacement of contacts varies from
person to person. If your eyes produce more protein or
liquid deposits your contacts will lose their shape and
wear out relatively faster. Some soft contacts for daily
wear have to be removed before going to sleep, whereas the
extended wear contacts can be worn even in sleep. The
30-day continuous wear soft contact lense is the most
popular variety of soft contacts. Developed in the 80s, it
had quite a few shortcomings to begin with, which have been
successfully removed since then. The latest versions made
of improved materials allow your eyes to get the adequate
amount of oxygen, which makes them more comfortable and
definitely safer to wear.
Another option among contacts, both soft and rigid is
contacts with UV Light Blockers. Ultraviolet (UV) light is
known to cause cataracts in our eyes.. If you choose to
have UV Light Blockers added to your contacts you wont
have to worry about the way you look either. Contact
lenses with this feature look no different than regular
contacts.Another exciting feature of contacts is the
ability to change our eye color. This option is even
available to people who have perfect vision. This types
of contact lense comes in three types, enhancement tints,
opaque color tints and light-filtering tints. If you have
light blue eyes and wish to turn them into piercing blue
eyes an enhancement tint contact lense can do this. If you
have blue eyes and want to change them to green a set of
opaque color tint lenses can do this as well. The colored
lenses available are also of the highest quality.
Contact makers have gone to great lengths to make
these colored contactsas close to real life as possible.
When wearing these colored contacts no one will ever
know it is not your real eye color. As you can see contact
lenses are not just for people who need vision correction
but can be used by all of us for many exciting things.
